Matching students to appropriate text is incredibly important. In order to counteract the Matthew Effect, it is important for me to be knowledgeable of children's literature. If I know my students interests and I know about children's books, I am likely able to match them up with books and get them hooked on reading.

I need to be knowledgeable of resources that can help ease the burden for struggling readers. One such area is through the use of technology. This lesson plan uses images to help readers infer. While drawing conclusions from text is still important, this plan allows all readers to first develop an understanding of what it means to make an inference, before being asked to do so from the written word.
